Meet Your Baker

Hi! My name is Kathee Le-Korchinski and I am the founder, baker, and creative behind Sweets by Bloomhaus, a division of Bloomhaus Creations! Sweets by Bloomhaus is a licensed and food-safety certified home-based bakery.

I am a self-taught baker specialising in protein sugar cookies. I have a love of fitness, health, and wellness, but also have a love for all things sweet and savoury.

I grew up in Estevan, SK and moved to Saskatoon to pursue my post secondary education at the Edwards School of Business. I have a Bachelor of Commerce degree, majoring in Marketing. My career has spanned all sorts of industries and organizations. I started off in a local marketing firm, then moved to a big-four accounting firm planning events. After that I was the administrative assistant to a provincial sport organization, then eventually managed a couple chiropractic clinics in the city over a span of six years. I decided to take the entrepreneurial leap in 2025.

In my spare time I enjoy CrossFit and Olympic Weightlifting. I have been coaching CrossFit part-time at CrossFit 306 since July 2020 and have my CrossFit Level 2 Coaching Certification. My competitive lifting career started in 2014 and I have been involved with Saskatchewan Weightlifting as a technical official since 2015. I am currently a National Level technical official hoping to upgrade to International Level in the next couple years.

I have a corgi named Kevin with my husband. We call him “Sweetie”, “Stinky”, “Mister”, “Bubba”, “Heavy Kevy”, to name a few nick names. We enjoy participating in the corgi races every year, going to the dog park, and play “hide the cheese” to fulfil the cheese tax.

Our Story

Sweets by Bloomhaus all started when I hosted a Galentine’s Day pot luck at my house. I wanted to do some sort of activity that evening so I Googled “What to do at a Galentine’s Day party” and many lists from Pinterest came up. I came across decorating sugar cookies, and that’s when I made my first batch of sugar cookies and royal icing, ever. They both turned out to be actually decent! I was surprised. The picture is from that night!

I started to bake and decorate more cookies for different occasions for family and friends. I would end up watching YouTube videos on how to perfect the intricate sugar cookie designs I started getting in my Instagram algorithm. This started to fulfil my artistic side, which I have always had since I was young.

Being a wellness enthusiast, I knew I wanted to make the cookies a little bit more protein rich. I started to experiment with ways to increase the protein content in the cookies and with the help of ChatGPT, I had created a go-to recipe which incorporates whey protein powder and Greek yogurt.

Soon enough, I was getting more family and friends wanting cookies for different events and thought I could really make this into a business! As I dove into researching other cookie businesses from all over North America, I saw a lot of them offered cookie decorating classes. I thought I could do that one day, but where could I host it?

This sparked the idea of opening my own space, which is still in the works today. We are excited to eventually open “Events by Bloomhaus”, a small space to not only host classes, but also intimate events! Whether it is to celebrate a milestone or a special person in your life, we love to bring people together. We aim to let creativity blossom, make connections flourish, and help grow communities.
